Citroen BX 4x4 Estate. (quatre ves Quatre break)

I bought new in 1990 have travelled Europe in this car, enjoyed the Pyrenees in this car and have enjoyed it, felt supremely confident when driving it, that I can not sell it despite having another newer car.
I have brought it out of retirement and had it MOT'd successfully. It requires some work:-
new centre bearing for propshaft [transmission] plus fitting instructions or specification for manufacture by third party.
rear suspension spheres 500/40 [equal to BX TRD Estate?] Front end = done!
New radio fitment through ignition circuit [wiring example].
Handbrake adjustment.

It is difficult to obtain 4x4 parts here in UK.

Any help or guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :???:

hello

quite difficult to obtain 4x4 part in france also

you can use regular estate rear spheres.

for propshaft bearing, you can get it from any industrial dealer.

for handbrake adjustment, engine running, push the brake pedal (hard) then lift the handbrake several times. release the handbrake, release the pedal. Should be adjusted.

For propshaft bearing it's the same Citroen part number (335016) for front propshaft like rear propshaft. ;) I looked un the Citroën parts catalog. I think you can find it in UK, it's a quite common bearing.

Thank you Bricofoy,
My research tells me that the spheres from BX; TZI, TRI,, Turbo Deisel and CX all models use 500/440 - 40/1, 40/1.2, 40/1.25 respectively. I do not know the significance of the extender /1 to 1.25 also whether the size. seals, and thread dia; are suitable. I would be pleased to learn the significance if you can help?
My immediate thought is to use those from TZI or TRI but the bodywork of the 4x 4 modified at the factory as standard and is different to the regular BX estate. My Citroen mechanic has had wrong spheres twice for the rear and has given up. Christmas wishes to you and thanks again.

Here is two Citroën documents :

The line "amortisseur (mm)" tells you the damper size of each type of sphere.

I don't understand very well your problem for the rear spheres, yes the bodywork ok the BX 4X4 estate is different of the BX regular estate but the sphere bodywork is the same anyway.
But if you want fit a specific sphere part number you can look here :

And can you tell us more about your BX with somes pictures ? ;)

To demesmaeker,

Thanks for your information, most helpful.

Currently with celebrating family over Christmas but will pick up this thread later.

I tried to buy the spheres and the prop bearing from France, filled my basket, went to the checkout, entered all the correct details, when I got to the 'country' field box there is no provision to enter UK, GB. England so I was unable to complete the purchase.

I will take photo's of the car, dig out some older ones when it was new and post them on this site along with other Citroen details for 4 x 4 vehicles.

Happy new year to all lacitroen.
